Job Description
AECOM Saskatoon is hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Buildings + Places business line. This position will be based out of Saskatoon, SK office with hybrid-work options available.
The Buildings and Places Team is a vibrant and growing business line which delivers Engineering, architectural and project management services as well as planning and economic analysis for vertical construction projects. Project assignments may include, although not limited to, commercial, institutional, healthcare, pharmaceutical, water / waste water and transit facilities;

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing various types of reports including schematic design, design development, building assessment, and design build/assist scope of work documents
  • Preparing electrical drawings and specification
  • Implement design concept through the preparation and production of drawings to detail medium voltage power utility design coordination, low voltage power, fire alarm, lighting, and specialty low voltage systems rough-ins (i.e. telecomm., intrusion control, security, CCTV, door access controls, etc.)
  • Providing technical and administrative support through all phases of the project
  • Conduct necessary research to gather industry, field, and project specific data
  • Ensuring design conforms with all applicable codes and standards;
  • Working with prime consultants, engineering consultants, client and contractors; responding to technical queries
  • Construction administration responsibilities:
  • Attending site meetings and site reviews complete with reports
  • Shop drawing reviews
  • SI and CCN preparations.
  • Contractor`s change quotation reviews
  • Progress billing reviews
  • Fire alarm verification report reviews

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

In order to be considered for this position, candidates must possess no less than:

  • University Degree in Electrical Engineering plus six (6) years of electrical engineering experience working on institutional, commercial and light industrial projects
  • Licensed Professional Engineer.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ideally ten (10)+ years of electrical engineering experience working on institutional, commercial and light industrial projects
  • Experience leading electrical design and commissioning preferably encompassing: electrical distribution systems and equipment up to 25kV, variable speed drives, instrumentation & control systems
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Proven interpersonal skills and ability to work within multi-disciplinary environment
  • Membership or eligibility for registration with APEGS as P.Eng. will be considered
  • Experience with a variety of computer aided design platforms including ETAP/SKM, Revit MEP, AutoCAD and Microstation for the production of contract documents
  • Familiarity with the Canadian Electrical Code (NEC or IEC exposure is an asset).
  • Saskatchewan Building Code and National Energy
  • Proficient in the use of power analysis software such as ETAP and SKM is an asset
  • Proficient in the use of ETAP/SKM power system design, AGi32 Lighting Design software
  • Fire Alarm verification and telecommunication experience
