This Opportunity WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Electrical Engineer for our Property & Buildings Team in Chicago, Illinois. This role provides the opportunity to support the design and delivery of electrical systems for a diverse portfolio of commercial, healthcare, higher education, civic, residential, and mixed-use projects. The ideal candidate is a technically strong engineer who enjoys collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and contributing to innovative, sustainable building solutions. Your Impact * Perform electrical engineering design and analysis for building systems projects. * Develop construction documents, specifications, calculations, and technical reports. * Design power distribution, lighting, emergency power, grounding, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems. * Coordinate designs with architects, owners, and multidisciplinary engineering teams. * Support project managers in meeting project schedules, budgets, and quality objectives. * Utilize Revit and BIM tools to develop and coordinate project designs. * Conduct field investigations, site visits, and existing condition assessments. * Assist with construction administration activities, including responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and supporting project closeout. * Review work for compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements. * Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers. * Support technical excellence initiatives and continuous improvement efforts. Who You Are Required Qualifications * Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering or related discipline. * 5–7 years of relevant electrical engineering experience in the design of building systems. * Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required. * Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain licensure in the near term. * Working knowledge of: * National Electrical Code (NEC) * Building and energy codes * Electrical distribution systems * Lighting and lighting controls * Emergency and standby power systems * Fire alarm systems * Experience using: * Revit * AutoCAD * SKM, ETAP, or similar analysis software * Microsoft Office Suite * Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills. * Ability to manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced consulting environment. Preferred Qualifications * Professional Engineer (PE) license. * Experience in healthcare, higher education, commercial, laboratory, or civic facilities. * Familiarity with sustainable design principles and energy-efficient building systems. * LEED AP, WELL AP, or similar credential. * Experience working within multidisciplinary design teams. * Familiarity with construction administration and field observation activities.
