Description:
WSP is currently seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Electrical Buildings team, located at our Victoria office.
WSP’s electrical engineering team in Victoria engages in diverse projects in the commercial, institutional, health care, educational and light industrial sectors in BC and the Yukon. Reporting to the mechanical and electrical manager, this position will be responsible for the preparation of electrical designs and documentation, construction reviews and administration, project management and mentoring junior staff.
Responsibilities:
- Understanding and practicing safe work procedures.
- Reporting to the mechanical/electrical manager, working in a team environment.
- Working on a wide range of project assignments within the electrical buildings field, including power distribution, infrastructure, lighting, life safety, communications, data and security systems.
- Taking responsibility for project assignments from concept design to completion of construction.
- Preparing engineering reports and studies.
- Providing design direction and selection of systems and equipment.
- Reviewing project construction progress and managing construction phase administrative tasks.
- Leading a project delivery team.
- Providing guidance and mentorship to junior staff members.
- Planning and participation in business development activities
- Project management and coordination of project delivery, including multidisciplinary projects.
- Reliably and promptly responding and attending to clients’ needs.
- Communicating effectively with the design team, clients, design professionals, contractors and authorities having jurisdiction.
- Preparation of fee proposals.
- Developing and adhering to project budgets and timelines.
- Maintaining accurate and prompt project tracking, management and billing.
- Maintaining established quality assurance and quality control processes
