KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

In this role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing functional descriptions, drawings, and basic engineering documents for power distribution, lighting, and other electrical systems.
  • Creating and maintaining specification documents for electrical components and installation processes.
  • Writing detailed test and validation plans to ensure compliance with Class regulations and customer requirements during simulations and real-world testing (FAT, HAT, SAT).
  • Managing vendors and subcontractors, ensuring timely contributions to the project.
  • Reviewing vendor and subcontractor designs and integrating them into the vessel’s design.
  • Establishing engineering standards and best practices for detailed engineering and commissioning.
  • Supporting proposal phases by developing conceptual designs for electrical power systems.
  • Providing technical support during commissioning for ongoing projects.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

  • 5+ years’ experience with designing complex electrical systems (including large power distribution systems), preferably in maritime, offshore, or aeronautic installations.
  • Professional experience working in complex projects, comprised of multidisciplinary sub-teams and multiple suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Experience working in a model-based system engineering environment (MBSE) according to the V-model.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s level in Electrical Engineering or other relevant discipline
  • Experience in designing EMC-compliant solutions; knowledge of the TEMPEST regulations is a plus.
  • Excellent references, as a security screening is part of the hiring process.
  • Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required. Candidates with EU (work) visa or with both an EU and non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible in accordance with the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.
Responsibilities

THE ROLE

As a Senior Electrical Engineer at Damen Naval, you play a crucial role in designing and delivering state-of-the-art naval vessels. You ensure that power systems and wiring configurations are optimized for performance, reliability, and compliance with strict maritime regulations. From load balancing and power distribution to cable routing and EMC-compliant designs, your expertise guarantees that all electrical systems operate seamlessly under the most demanding conditions. Depending on the vessel’s configuration, you will also design power distribution systems for strategic defensive and deterrent technologies.Working within the V-model and using our 3DExperience engineering environment, you collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams. Throughout the design and production phases, your basic and detailed designs will be rigorously reviewed, tested, and validated to meet the highest industry standards. Ultimately, your work contributes to the successful launch of a naval vessel, built to defend and protect freedom worldwide.
