JOB DESCRIPTION

The Data Centre MEP team is comprised of Associates, Principal, Senior, Engineer and graduates located across the UK, notionally working from our offices in London Aldgate and St Albans offices. We are a close knit, supportive community, nurturing exceptional talent in the building services industry. We work closely alongside our internal and external consultant colleagues in the architectural, civil, structural, PM, QS, environmental, building physics, sustainable design, acoustic, transportation, planning and landscape disciplines designing new data centres (hyperscale and co-locations) at the forefront of technology for our clients across the world.
We are seeking a chartered (or working towards chartership) dynamic, flexible Senior Electrical Engineer, with the experience, enthusiasm, confidence and ability to run small projects and take ownership of assigned parts of larger projects, under the guidance of a team of more experienced engineers in the Data Centre team.
The successful candidate will be working alongside accomplished peers and colleagues, who can guide, encourage and educate progression for the right candidate through the business.
The ideal candidate will be experienced in data centre design or exposure to this sector and the basic design principles of electrical services in data centre or industrial facilities.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :

A team player, who can confidently deliver electrical designs in conjunction with and in close collaboration with our other building services and wider disciplines.
Post Graduate experience in a building services design role with particular focus on data centres.
Conversant with ETAP, Relux/Dialux, MS project, AutoCAD and Revit software packages.
The ability to approach projects with forward thinking, open mindedness, confident in liaising with clients, project managers and contractors.
Familiar with the relevant regulations, standards and industry good practice requirements, able to produce designs relevant to all stages of RIBA plan of work and possess the skills to undertake site supervision and inspection roles, produce feasibility reports, from which designs can be prepared.
The ability to apply their own initiative, under guidance and supervision from a Principal engineer and the wider team.
You will possess a full clean driving licence and passport, be willing and able to travel to projects across the region and beyond, on occasion staying over and including internationally
Security Clearance will be required to work on some projects so you will need to be able to fulfil the criteria to obtain this.

You should also be able to

  • Co-ordinate and manage the electrical delivery on small to mid-sized projects.
  • Provide specialised technical input to studies and design for staff’s specific area of expertise.
  • Manage own workload and meet deadlines on task assigned.
  • A self-starter who can use own initiative and a problem solver
  • Present technical solutions to clients and peers
  • Participate in development of technical proposals
  • Attend design team and coordination meetings where required.
  • Attend site inspection meetings where required.
  • Liaise with clients, professional organizations, contractors, suppliers, sub-contractors and other design team members.

QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree qualified (or with requisite post qualification experience if degree qualified) in electrical engineering, preferably with a building services bias but not compulsory.
Member of a professional accreditation body, IET or CIBSE
CEng accredited or working towards.
