Description:

We are hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Surface Team! Are you passionate about building cool devices and technologies? The Surface Team focuses on lighting up Microsoft experiences with touch first computing. A fundamental part of our strategy is having desirable and powerful devices that enable the experiences people want and elicit their excitement. Creating these devices involves a close partnership between hardware and software engineers, designers, and manufacturing. We are currently building the next generation and Surface needs you!
We are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to focus on the electrical system design for the next generation of Surface products. A mix of technical breadth and depth will allow you to work cross-functionally with different disciplines (Industrial Design, Mechanical, Electrical, Thermal, Software and Firmware) to develop compelling innovative products. You will design and develop circuits, select key strategic components and that encompasses the entire product.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of technical engineering experience
  • OR Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years of technical engineering experience
  • OR Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years of technical engineering experience

Additional or Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years of technical engineering experience
  • OR Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years of technical engineering experience.

Electrical Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.

Responsibilities:

  • System motherboard design and development.
  • Develop, design, and implement electrical solutions for consumer electronic products including but not limited to schematic capture, part selection, PCB layout, analysis and validation of prototype systems that meet the goals of the product while managing constraints in space, time, cost, performance, power, signal integrity, timing margins, and manufacturing.
  • Direct and coordinate electrical engineering services as required. Collaborate with design, software, firmware, compliance, mechanical engineering, and many other engineering and design disciplines to optimize the overall system of the product.
  • Develop project documentation including specifications, schematic diagrams, PCB layouts, schedules and presentations to fully capture and communicate the electrical design to achieve the projects goals.
  • Use simulation and lab measurement data to support design troubleshooting and propose corrective actions, drive failure analysis, root cause analysis, and design of experiments to resolve issues.
  • Work with suppliers, contractors, or ODM vendors to ensure that the product is developed on time with high quality.
