Description

Piper Companies is hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer for an onsite permanent position located in Houston, TX with a pioneer in clean, dispatchable power through breakthrough natural gas technology. The Senior Electrical Engineer will lead the design, integration, and commissioning of advanced electrical systems for a cutting-edge power generation platform. This role involves hands-on engineering, strategic collaboration, and field support across multiple project sites.

QUALIFICATIONS OF THE SENIOR ELECTRICAL ENGINEER INCLUDE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution; Master’s degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • Minimum of 7 years in electrical engineering with a focus on high-voltage systems, plant-wide design, and field troubleshooting
  • Skilled in CAD-based one-line design, electrical schematics, and modeling software such as ETAP or SKM
  • Familiar with NEC, NEMA, IEEE, NERC, ATEX, CE, CSA, and ANSI standards for electrical design and operation
  • Comfortable working with early-stage designs and performing field work at test and commercial-scale facilities
Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and integration of electrical systems including one-line diagrams, power distribution, motor control centers, switchgear, transformers, and generators in alignment with industry standards
  • Provide on-site support during plant commissioning and startup, resolving medium-voltage electrical issues and optimizing system performance
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to specify, source, and commission high-power equipment such as motors, VFDs, and transformers
  • Utilize tools like ETAP or SKM PowerTools to simulate and analyze electrical system performance, reliability, and safety
  • Support interconnect studies and regulatory compliance efforts, including governor model development and coordination with third-party consultants
