QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s degree is an asset).
• P.Eng. designation with APEGA (or eligibility for registration).
• 7+ years of experience in electrical engineering, with at least 3+ years focused on solar PV and renewable energy.
• Demonstrated involvement in multiple large-scale commercial or industrial solar projects.
• Deep knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and practical application in commercial PV systems.
• Strong background in electrical system design, protection, grounding, and utility interconnection.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, ETAP, Helioscope, or similar design tools.
• Proven ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict deadlines without compromising quality.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

ROLE OVERVIEW

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer with strong expertise in large-scale commercial solar projects and a proven track record of designing and overseeing electrical systems in accordance with the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC). The ideal candidate will bring significant experience in solar PV engineering, with the ability to lead complex projects from concept to completion.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform electrical design for large commercial and industrial solar PV projects.
• Ensure all designs and installations fully comply with the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and relevant utility/municipal requirements.
• Provide engineering review, system optimization, and value-engineering for cost-effective and code-compliant designs.
• Collaborate with other engineers, project managers, and electricians to ensure successful execution.
• Manage project timelines, ensuring engineering deliverables are completed accurately and on schedule.
• Prepare and review bill of material, single-line diagrams, load calculations, and protection/coordination studies.
• Engage with utilities, AHJs, and clients to obtain approvals and resolve technical issues.

• Timely delivery of engineering packages – all drawings, studies, and submittals must be completed in alignment with project schedules.
• Code compliance and accuracy – designs must consistently meet or exceed CEC requirements and utility interconnection standards.
• Leadership and mentorship – ability to guide junior engineers, fostering technical growth and efficiency within the team.
• Collaboration and communication – maintaining clear, proactive communication with engineering manager, project manager, and electricians team to ensure smooth project execution.
