The salary for this role is £40,609 (inclusive of a Market Premium Payment (MPP) , and onsite working is expected.
Job Description
This role can be based at can any of the following sites; Culham, Oxfordshire
This role requires employees to complete an online Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), including The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for criminal convictions.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • A relevant engineering degree /HND or HNC/ apprenticeship or equivalent with significant industrial experience.
  • Qualified to the current BS7671 Wiring Regulations.
  • Ability to understand and work from drawings and schematics
  • Comprehensive knowledge of crimping and soldering techniques.
  • Experienced in fault finding techniques in electrical systems and devices
  • Experienced in the supervision of a workshop and management of technicians.

Responsibilities:

THE ROLE

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to make a difference? Join our team and contribute to the future of fusion energy. As a RACE Senior Electrical Technician, you will play a key role in the wiring, testing and commissioning of equipment for robotics and remote handling systems. You’ll also supervise a team of technicians, for the build and test of equipment, and fault finding and repair of remote handling electrical systems.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Working with the Electrical Workshop Manager to prioritise tasks assigned to the workshop and highlighting issues where targets cannot be met.
  • Working on RACE projects involving the research and development of new equipment and tasks and being able to recognise potential build and operations issues.
  • Assisting the RACE Remote Handling Electrical Plant Manager supporting remote handling equipment in operations.
  • Acting as the Responsible Officer for RACE equipment or systems, and responsible for ensuring that maintenance is carried out as specified. Take responsibilities for areas of the workshop as required.

    Please note you may need to work in radiological areas.
