Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is looking for talented, Senior Electrical RF/Electromagnetics Engineers - Antennas to join our Phantom Works team in Kent, WA., or Tukwila, WA.
Phantom Works is the R&D arm of Boeing BDS and is responsible for designing new and cutting-edge solutions to meet the operational needs of our defense customers. We work on developing new concepts and advancing the Technology Readiness Level (TRL) of existing technologies with a focus on transitioning these ideas from development to implementation.
This role will be responsible for developing and architecting advanced technologies in Radio Frequency (RF) Systems, Software Defined Radios, and Antenna design to develop new and innovative capabilities across multiple platforms. Phantom Works is seeking an individual with key RF talents in one or more of the following areas: Software Defined Radio architecture, RF algorithm development in either software or firmware, antenna systems development, RF electronics design, and RF systems architecture.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
  • (Level 4) 9+ years of work related engineering experience with a Bachelor’s or 7+ years of work related engineering experience with a Master’s or 4+ years of work related engineering experience with a PhD
  • 5+ years of engineering experience in RF systems design
  • 3+ years of experience working with programming languages (e.g., C++, Java, Matlab)
  • Experience with systems architecture, requirements development and test & verification

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS (PREFERRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • Extensive knowledge of Software Defined Radios (SDR) and/or ability to architect new SDR solutions
  • Experience developing firmware for SDR and RF systems
  • Experience writing proposals and/or white papers for future R&D studies
  • Experience leading a team of engineers
    Typical Education/Experience:
    Level 4: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years’ related work experience, Master+7 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Responsibilities
  • Act as lead engineer and/or lead RF systems architect for various development projects
  • Interface with customers and present technical material to Sr. Leadership and external stakeholders
  • Write white papers and/or proposals for conducting future research studies
  • Design and develop new RF solutions to match customer needs
  • Model and implement RF components into system architectures
  • Analyze RF systems for compliance to mission needs
  • Utilize analytical methods & modeling to evaluate performance and support verification of requirements
  • Test/verify performance of completed systems & subsystems in the laboratory and in the field
  • Support Systems Engineering in deriving performance requirements and constraints of the platform and architecture
