Job Summary: Senior Electronic Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing all electronic and instrumentation systems aboard the offshore jack-up rig. This includes safety-critical systems, drilling instrumentation, communication networks, and automation control systems. Ensures maximum uptime, operational efficiency, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards in a high-risk offshore environment. Roles & Responsibilities: Instrumentation and Control System Maintenance: • Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on rig-based instrumentation systems, including drilling sensors, control loops, and systems such as VFD drivers, HDMI/ SDI signal transmission, and jacking monitoring systems. • Calibrates and verifies control loop components (transmitters, controllers, actuators) for drilling and auxiliary systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance with OEM and regulatory standards. • Maintains and troubleshoots PLCs, SCADA, and DCS systems used for rig automation and process control to reduce downtime and enhance operational efficiency. • Maintains electronic logs and ensures all system modifications are recorded with updated drawings and documentation. • Responsible for rig management of critical system software, maintains the register, and ensures correct SMOCs are in place before any modifications, ensures rig system software is backed up with the most up-to-date versions. • Ensures rig system Manual, certificates, and software (most up-to-date versions) are uploaded to Data Library System (Laserfiche). Electronic Systems Troubleshooting: • Diagnoses complex electronic failures across communication systems, CCTV, fire & gas detection, BOP control electronics, and rig management systems • Utilizes diagnostic tools (multimeters, oscilloscopes, HART communicators, etc.) to analyze faults and implement sustainable solutions under minimal supervision. • Collaborates with mechanical and electrical teams during multi-system failures to ensure safe and timely resolution. Offshore Operations Support: • Responds to real-time operational issues related to electronic systems during drilling, jacking, and positioning operations. • Participates in rig-up and rig-down processes to verify safe connections and proper system initialization. Compliance and Safety Assurance: • Performs system checks and routine inspections in accordance with Safety Case, MODU Code, and classification society requirements (e.g., ABS, DNV). • Supports audits by providing accurate records and demonstrating compliance with maintenance plans and OEM specifications. • Verifies that all third-party electronic and instrumentation equipment complies with regulatory, safety, and rig specific operational standards before deployment. • Identifies potential electrical hazards during inspection and maintenance activities and initiates appropriate risk assessments in accordance with HSE protocols. • Ensures the availability and calibration of all necessary tools and equipment Technical Reporting and Documentation: • Prepares technical reports on fault trends, failure root causes, and recommended design or procedural improvements. • Ensures documentation, schematics, and test results are accurately recorded in the CMMS (e.g., Oracle PMS). • Assists in the preparation of equipment registers and calibration certificates for certification purposes. Stakeholder Interface: • Responds promptly to client requests and needs concerning materials, equipment, and personnel. • Offers technical advice and support whenever necessary or as requested. • Fosters clear and effective communication channels with client representatives, actively working to prevent misunderstandings and promote positive collaboration among personnel on the rig. • Coordinates with Marine, Maintenance, and Service Company leads to ensure seamless operations. • Coordinates with Warehouse man to ensure availability of critical spare parts and correct stock (min/max). People Management and Mentorship: • Supports and guides junior technicians in diagnostic techniques, safe work practices, and procedural compliance Job Requirements: • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education in Electronics, Instrumentation, or Electrical Engineering. • Minimum 6–8 years of offshore electronic maintenance experience, with at least 3 years on jack-up rigs.
