REQUIREMENT

Looking to expand its biology team, Autifony is seeking a highly motivated electrophysiologist with experience in the use of solid supported membrane-based electrophysiology (SSME) exemplified by the SURFE2R system (Nanion Technologies GmbH). Through a lead role in the use of this technology, the candidate will deliver important insights into the pharmacology of novel ion channel and other targeted small molecules to support ongoing drug discovery as part of a dynamic preclinical R&D group.

EXPERIENCE

• Ideally, the candidate will already have experience and a demonstratable track record of the use of solid supported membrane-based electrophysiology (SSME) exemplified by the Nanion SURFE2R system within the pharma, biotech, and/or CRO life sciences sector.
• As a minimum the applicant should have relevant hands-on experience and a demonstrable track record in the application of a range electrophysiological techniques for pharmacological, mechanism of action and/or drug discovery studies.
• Candidates should have a good understanding of ion channels, neuroscience and the principles of electrophysiology and pharmacology.
• Candidates with experience of lysosomal biology are encouraged to apply

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

• Applicants must have good written and oral communication skills in English.
• Highly motivated to learn and/or apply new techniques to the field of ion channel drug discovery
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

QUALIFICATIONS

• PhD degree preferred. Additional experience including postdoc or equivalent industry experience in biological will also be considered.

• Planning, designing, conducting, troubleshooting and analysing bespoke experiments aligned with the drug discovery and new target validation goals of the company
• The candidate will be expected to prepare experimental summaries, presentations at internal and external meetings e.g. at project teams or with partners companies or at conferences, and prepare research reports and contribute to research papers for publication
