JOB DESCRIPTION

Only candidates having a minimum of 10 years hands on experience with a proven history of high success rates and the ability to function in a team oriented environment. The embryology Supervisor position requires a minimum of 5 years supervisory experience.

Our ideal candidate will have: - An in depth knowledge of basic physiological functions involving mammalian oocytes, embryos, and sperm. - Experience in all aspects of sperm preparation, oocyte identification, embryo/blastocyst culture and evaluation as well as embryo transfer. - Oocyte/embryo cryopreservation including vitrification skills. - Specific experience in recovery and preparation of sperm from testicular and epididymal samples for ICSI. - Experience in all aspects of micromanipulation including ICSI, laser assisted hatching and Day 3/5 embryo biopsy. - Broad knowledge of organizational policies, procedures and standards of care. - Knowledge of evidence-based clinical embryology practice. - Knowledge of evaluation processes.

  • Knowledge of research processes and methodology.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. - Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other health practitioners, as well as patients, family members and the public. - Ability to apply quality management methodology to existing processes. - Ability to organize work and prioritize work. - Ability to operate related equipment. - Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. Candidates must be willing to learn how to perform all aspects of IVF as specifically applied in this laboratory. Duties will include assistance in data entry and administrative tasks and will report directly to the Laboratory Supervisor.
    Job Duties • Sperm preparation for IVF and insemination • Culture of embryos and blastocysts • Oocyte and embryo cryopreservation inclusive of vitrification • Intracytoplasmic sperm injection • Assisted hatching • Participation in research projects • Data entry • Maintenance of quality control practices • Training of junior laboratory staff • Participation in administrative meetings
    Salary and Benefits This is a permanent full time position with full benefit package inclusive of B.C. medical plan coverage, extended benefits, disability insurance and an RRSP matching program. Remuneration is $100,000 - $150,000 per annum.
