SUMMARY

We are seeking a Senior Engineer to join our dynamic team at Bridgewater Consulting Group. In this role, you will leverage your engineering expertise to contribute to various projects within the Utilities sector, ensuring effective project management and technical excellence. Your work will be pivotal in driving impactful solutions for our clients.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Seven (7) or more years of experience performing engineering work in operations, production, construction or maintenance environments.
  • Possess a valid Class C Driver’s License.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Engineering experience with utility transmission and/or distribution planning processes.
  • Experience developing and delivering technical presentations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience supporting the development of testimony for regulatory proceedings and environmental licensing.
  • Familiarity with industry committees, subcommittees, working groups, and task forces as it pertains to Transmission and Distribution planning.
  • Experience using GE PSLF and/or PowerWorld simulation software.
  • Engineering experience related to modeling and performing power system analyses on transmission systems (i.e., typically 220 kV and 500 kV).

Responsibilities
  • In this role, you’ll be part of the Integrated Major Project Development team within System Planning & Engineering (SPE) responsible for technical/engineering efforts in support of major utility projects, such as pre-scoping activities, while looking for synergies and opportunities for project cross-cutting to maximize value. Coordinating and performing technical analyses for both transmission and substation level major projects, you’ll drive multiple aspects during licensing and construction to streamline and optimize the clients resources.
  • Lead, coordinate, and support various stakeholders from the clients Engineering, Project Management, Grid Contracts, Environmental, and Land Management groups to develop major projects and their associated scope and cost.
  • Perform pre-scoping activities for reliability projects, such as defining project viability and alternatives and preparing project summaries.
  • Support preparation of core team-licensing documentation and coordination through the project initiation process
  • Perform steady state and stability analyses on the clients Transmission system using GE PSLF and/or PowerWorld simulation software.
  • Perform assignments acting independently and lead intradepartmental technical teams.
  • Provide recommendations and implement action plans to improve Transmission models based on industry guidance and recommendations.

Tasks may include (not limited to) the following:

  • Identifies, develops, tests, and implements grid innovation and high-tech solutions, develops and implements system and asset strategies through grid planning, design, and risk analysis to achieve company strategy and directs business and operating plans.
  • Performs engineering functions that initiates work plans, sets standards, work methods, and prioritization for operations, production, construction, inspection and maintenance organizations.
  • Plans, designs modifies scope, estimates cost, and sponsors the execution of structures, facilities, systems and components.
  • Performs analyses, designs solutions, develops construction documents, estimates time and cost and oversees construction and maintenance of additions or modifications to existing structures, facilities, systems and components.
  • Analyzes, develops solutions to engineering problems related to equipment and systems or the causes of component or system failures.
  • Develops and applies engineering standards and procedures and provides advice on issues within the engineering field.
