POSITION OVERVIEW

You’ve built an impressive repertoire of successful projects and hold extensive engineering expertise, with a focus on leadership, innovation and operational excellence. You utilize effective collaboration to engage key stakeholders at every stage and ensure project execution delivers on business objectives. With everything you bring to the table, you’ll excel as our Senior Engineer, Compression Assets.

Responsibilities:

Provide strategic and tactical engineering guidance, design process oversight, supervise junior team members and external engineering resources, and offer professional services for compression asset projects and operations support activities for compression assets at FortisBC.

  • Familiarize yourself with FortisBC Energy Inc. (FEI) engineering standards and operational processes;
  • Develop a fundamental understanding of FEI compression assets located across BC;
  • Establish solid technical leadership with the engineering teams and prepare everyone for the successful implementation of current and future projects;
  • Foster trusting and effective working relationships with key stakeholders;
  • Lead and implement improvements to FEI engineering standards relevant to compression assets;
  • Present new and original technical solutions, influence stakeholder buy-ins, and see through to successful implementation to deliver additional values by projects;
  • Become a technical expert in compression engineering to support engineering and operations, and represent Compression in major projects from a design and operability standpoint;
  • Lead and participate in root cause failure analysis and investigations;
  • Participate in industry committees, conferences, seminars, and workshops and promote the implementation of the latest best practices in compression engineering to FEI;
  • Support operations in the development of justifications for annual budget increase or decreases to accommodate facility and people changes;
  • Work with project management teams to develop project specific plans to ensure that the project is delivered as required;
  • Manage compression related metrics and work closely with operations with developing procedures and technical documents;
  • Assemble and present compressor stations risks annually to leadership that is inclusive of mitigation strategies. Provide leadership and support operations to lead the development of mitigation strategies that involve multiple stakeholders;
  • Analyze and interpret maintenance and performance data of Compression assets to provide guidance to operational managers and supervisor to maximize asset value and the performance of assets; and
  • Lead and participate in the development of mitigation strategies and plans for equipment malfunctions and operating hazards and implementation of asset management strategies, end of life frameworks and tools and ensure they are being utilized in the long term capital planning process for Compression assets.
