Senior Engineer (Electrical Design) Entity: Aga Khan University Location: Karachi Introduction to the Aga Khan University: The Aga Khan University is a private, international university committed to international standards of excellence in teaching, research and service. Job Role / Responsibilities: You will be responsible for design of electrical works for projects including site inspection prior to design development. Coordinate with MEP to check the impact of new project on existing facility, work with all relevant stake holders and ensure their requirements in design as per standards. Prepare and review drawing, BOQ specification, and align all design details prior to award of the contract. Other responsibilities will include: Prepare design criteria and scope of work prior to start of the electrical works. Create Design of low and medium voltage electrical network, preparation of internal and external lighting, power, LAN, CCTV, MATV, Telephone, grounding, lightning protection drawings. Sizing of panel boards, cables, light fixtures and preparation of their schedules, manually as well as using related software. Design shall be done as per local/ international codes and standards including NEC, NFPA and IEC. Prepare and review bill of quantities, cost estimates and specification for electrical works to be executed. Coordinate with architect and mechanical team and site condition. Supervise AutoCAD operator for preparation of detailed drawings on the basis of the schematic layouts. Review of drawings, specifications and bill of quantities submitted by the consultants. Approval of material submittal, shop drawings, manufactures specifications and evaluation of bids. Co-ordinate with user and concerned department prior to preparation of electrical design drawing to ensure the timely submission of quality works. Maintain a list of electrical design works to analyze the steps involved in project and resolving the issues resulting in any kind of delay. Verify quality of work accordance with drawings and specifications and also certifies the quantities of contractors bill checked by QS to enable timely payment of bills. Carry out all assignments with responsibility and professional diligence and within the agreed time frame and as per instruction given by the supervisor Eligibility Criteria / Requirements: Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) from a recognized University. 5 to 7 years of related work experience. Computer Aided Design (AutoCAD). Knowledge of MEP disciplines and familiarity with architectural field. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent knowledge and usage of Microsoft Office.
