Job Description Summary Consulting Services a part of GE Vernova, has offices in multiple countries and offers our global clients (external & internal GE) a wide range of solutions across the entire spectrum of power generation, delivery, and utilization. Our Grid Integration and Stability team utilizes their deep knowledge of connected power grid planning, design, operation, and life-cycle management, to offer customized solutions to our global clients. Our Power Economics team offers analyses focused on the understanding and the study of the financial and physical operation of the electric power systems including generation and grid planning, system optimization, asset valuation, competitive power markets and energy policy implications. Over 700 entities worldwide use our Concorda Suite of software tools to assess the economics, performance, and reliability of interconnected power systems. We also offer a full range of education courses through our Power Systems Engineering Course. As a member of the Consulting Services Grid Integration and Stability team, the successful candidate will be an active contributor to the GE Vernova business initiatives related to power systems and power electronics equipment and services. Job Description Roles and Responsibilities Develop, model, analyze, and test conventional generation and IBR (Inverter-Based Resources), including associated protection schemes. Support customer grid code testing for conventional generation and ensure all tests are performed in accordance with applicable grid code requirements. Perform advanced power systems analysis and validations using RMS/EMT simulation tools such as PSS/E and PSCAD Carry out grid code compliance studies involving conventional generators and IBRs including load flow, dynamic, short-circuit, & small signal stability analysis to evaluate system performance and identify potential issues. Create, modify and parametrize simulation models representing GE equipment like gas turbines, wind turbines, solar inverters, battery storage and their controls in PSS/E and PSCAD Perform power system transient studies, and detailed equipment modeling using appropriate software tools like EMTP, PSCAD Effectively communicate results to both internal and external customers by preparing detailed written reports or presentations describing analyses performed, solutions developed, and customer value propositions Enhance industry knowledge and present technical content in regional forums and conferences; serve as a thought leader in industry activities Actively participate in a working environment where teamwork, quality, customer service and innovation are prized Travel to customer sites, project locations, and internal meetings (up to 40% of the time) to support project execution, testing activities, and stakeholder engagement. Required Qualifications Masters or equivalent degree in Electrical, Energy Systems or Power Systems Engineering Minimum 5-7 years of Industry experience of power system consulting studies Demonstrated professional experience in the following areas: Electric power systems engineering or Industrial power plant engineering IBR /Conventional Generators, including modelling, protection, analysis and/or testing Evaluation of IBR grid code compliance Performing power systems analysis using dynamic/transient simulation and other analytical tools, such as PSS/E, PSCAD, DIgSILENT Power Factory Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills from previous roles Willingness and availability to travel up to 40% Desired Characteristics PhD degree in electrical or electric power engineering or related field of study from an accredited university or college Industry reputation, prior IEEE/CIGRE published articles related to practical power systems engineering topics, participation in industry standards working groups Demonstrated professional experience in the following areas: Consulting on large interconnected system evaluations with IBRs Proficiency in simulation tools required for the activity (PSS/E, PSCAD) Standards and norms related to power system stability (IEEE 421.5, 421.2, …) Understanding of the power generation process and the architecture and operation of electricity generation systems Power generation, FACTS and/or variable speed drive control system, Modelling, analysis and testing Conventional Generation control configuration with GE equipment including implementation, commissioning and testing. Plant and converter control configuration of IBR plants with GE/Non-GE equipment including implementation, commissioning and testing.
