Job Description:

We are looking for a highly motivated, Functional Safety Design Lead in Microchip’s MCU business unit. Job responsibilities include:

  • Assist and guide SoC project leads from all sites to ensure functional safety compliance from Start to Launch
  • Maintain and develop necessary documentation and checklist related to functional safety compliance for SoC projects
  • Assist with architectural inputs for functional safety compliance
  • Work with SOC teams on coordinating functional safety compliance inputs/outputs for each project (FMEDA, DFA, …)
  • Escalate issues promptly when risks to the achievement of functional safety are foreseen
  • Perform internal audit to ensure safety compliance of all SoC projects
  • Assist the functional safety manager during audits and external documents review
  • Be the central resource for first point of contact for any questions pertaining to each functional safety compliant SoC project
  • Coordinate functional safety deliverables (FMEDA) from external or internal IP providers
  • Send regular reports to management and safety team about project progress

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in Electrical or Computer Engineering with 7.5 -9 years of experience or Masters with 5-6 years of experience in silicon design or applications or product development or quality & reliability.
  • Program Management experience is a plus.
  • Experience with ISO26262 and/or IEC61508 compliant hardware development & implementation (creating and reviewing fusa compliance work products like FMEDA, DFA etc.)
  • Experience with Confirmation Reviews of ISO26262 and/or IEC61508 Work Products, Functional Safety Audits and Assessments.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor devices such as Microcontroller Units (MCUs), Power Management Units, Communication Interfaces, Error Control and Coding.
  • Familiarity with IATF-16949. Knowledge of automotive quality and reliability standards is a plus.
  • Familiarity with automotive safety systems.
  • Skilled at persuasive speaking and writing. Fluent in both written and spoken English.
  • ISO26262 and/or IEC61508 certification from accredited certification authorities is a plus.
