Description
We are looking for a Senior Engineer with expertise in classical optical systems to join our growing team in Copenhagen. Together, we will shape the future of quantum technology and make Quantum Foundry Copenhagen one of the world’s leading quantum foundries. Do you want to be a part of pioneering quantum computing in a world-class quantum ecosystem in the heart of Copenhagen? Quantum Foundry Copenhagen is a newly founded company, owned by the Novo Nordisk Foundation (NNF), aimed at developing the next generation of Quantum Computing Processor technologies. Our mission is to establish a foundry capable of manufacturing quantum processor units using novel methods that meet the extreme requirements for purity and precision that are needed to bring Quantum Computing to scale. About us Our company is part of a vibrant and growing Danish quantum ecosystem, and we collaborate closely with world-leading researchers at Novo Nordisk Foundation Quantum Computing Programme (NQCP www.nqcp.ku.dk) based at the Niels Bohr Institute in Copenhagen. The NQCP programme is designed to facilitate and drive research and innovations at multiple levels – from developing quantum processor technologies to solutions for the quantum-classical control and readout interface, and all the way to quantum algorithms and applications. In close collaboration with NQCP and international partners, we aim to pioneer chip-based fabrication and packaging methods for state-of-the-art quantum processors. Join our team We are looking for an optical engineer to join our innovative team of talented and diverse international professionals. Joining our team offers opportunities for professional growth and collaboration with leading experts on different quantum computing platforms. You will be involved in designing new advanced research equipment and performing service and repair on existing instruments, often in cross-disciplinary collaboration between mechanics and electronics. In addition, the position requires expertise in optical design and characterization of surfaces on nanometer scale using optical methods. Your main responsibilities and tasks will include: Developing and improving novel wafer-scale characterization and pattern alignment using classical optical methods. Creating prototype optical setups utilizing e.g. laser sources, cameras, alignment stages, mirrors etc. Coordinating projects and roadmaps with tools and process development teams towards fully packaged QPU’s. Performing tests, troubleshooting, and debugging performance issues. Professional and Personal Qualifications As our new Senior Optical Engineer, you will bring a self-driven mindset and a passion for innovation. You take initiative and inspire those around you through collaboration and motivation. With several years of experience, across diverse environments, you are eager to work at the forefront of technology. You see solutions where others see challenges and thrive in a team that is building something extraordinary. Your qualifications and experience may include: MSc or PhD in Physics specializing in classical optical engineering +5 years post graduate experience In-depth knowledge and experience with design of classical optical systems Experience with electronics, data acquisition, and control systems Knowledge and ability to work with software, specifically Win/Linux/Python/C Skills to perform meticulous written documentation and test reports Preferably experience with Ultra High Vacuum systems Previous experience in quantum is not a requirement for this role. If you are new to the field, we will provide the training and support you need to succeed - what matters most is your readiness to learn. We offer Joining our team offers opportunities for professional growth and collaboration with leading experts in the field of quantum computing. We strive to be a world leading foundry and offer competitive salaries along with the many benefits of living in Copenhagen – one of the most livable cities in the world.
