This role - Senior Engineer Quality will be responsible for ensuring that all castings meet internal and customer quality requirements. The role includes overseeing inspection activities, implementing quality systems, leading problem-solving for internal and customer issues, and driving continuous improvement in process and product quality across the foundry and Supplier End This position will be located in Bangalore India Key Responsibilities: Quality Control & Inspection: Monitor and control quality of incoming raw materials (scrap, sand, alloys, cores, etc.). Supervise and carry out dimensional, visual, and NDT (radiography, DP, etc) inspection of castings. Verify and maintain control plans, sampling plans, and inspection procedures. Approve first-piece and final inspection reports before dispatch Process Quality Management: Conduct process audits in molding, melting, pouring, fettling, and machining supplier areas. Ensure adherence to process parameters and quality standards (e.g. ISO, customer-specific, etc). Work closely with production teams to prevent process deviations and reduce rejection rates. Defect Analysis & Problem Solving: Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for casting defects using tools such as 5 Why, Fishbone Diagram, or 8D. Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to eliminate recurring defects. Coordinate metallurgical investigations for microstructure, hardness, and composition variations Customer Quality Control & Assurance: Handle customer complaints and implement permanent corrective actions. Participate in customer audits and ensure compliance with customer specifications. Prepare quality documentation –Control Plans, and inspection reports. Quality System Management: Support maintenance of ISO 9001 / ISO 14001 / ISO 45001 systems (as applicable). Maintain calibration of measuring instruments and gauges. Conduct internal quality audits and follow up on non-conformities. Continuous Improvement: Drive initiatives for rejection reduction, yield improvement, and cost savings. Use quality tools like SPC, 7QC and DOE for process improvement. Train operators and inspectors on quality standards and defect identification What We’re Looking For To thrive in this role, you should bring: Education and Experience E./B.Tech in Metallurgical / Mechanical / Production Engineering (preferred). Additional certification in Quality Management / NDT will be an advantage. 5–10 years in Manufacturing Engineering, Foundry quality functions or a related role. Technical and Operations Skills: Strong understanding of foundry processes (sand/investment/die casting). Proficiency in quality tools – 8D, FMEA, SPC, APQP, PPAP. Knowledge of metallurgical principles and defect mechanisms. Good communication and leadership skills. Hands-on experience with inspection instruments (CMM, spectrometer, UT, etc.). Working knowledge of ERP / quality management software. Soft skills and other requirements: Able to communicate (verbal and written) in English The capability to simplify complex problems, conduct root cause analysis, and provide clear, well-thought-out recommendations. Strong, team-oriented leadership skills with presence and a bias for action. Strong attention to detail and highly organized. Ability to communicate in an open and authentic manner in all situations.
