A Senior Engineer for a medical devices and equipment manufacturing company is needed in the Mahwah, NJ area. This role focuses on the development, testing, and evaluation of orthopedic implant materials, especially metals and ceramics, while coordinating research efforts and producing technical documentation for regulatory purposes.

responsibilities:

  • Responsible for evaluating materials used in orthopedic implants.
  • Focus areas include material, process, and test method development.
  • Involves material characterization, testing, and writing protocols/technical reports.
  • Role is based in the Advanced Technology Department.
  • Conduct technical investigations (e.g., process development, root cause analysis).
  • Support material development and evaluation with minimal supervision.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners.
  • Perform both theoretical and hands-on lab work.
  • Create technical documents (memos, protocols, and reports), including those for regulatory submissions.

Skills:

  • Experience in material characterization and testing.
  • Hands-on experience with metallic and/or ceramic materials.
  • Skilled in basic statistical analysis (Minitab and/or MS Excel).
  • strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Effective communication (written and verbal) and teamwork abilities.
  • strong foundational knowledge in materials science/engineering.

Education and Experience:

  • BS in Materials Science/Engineering (other engineering degrees considered with materials experience).
  • Minimum of 3 years of R&D experience.
