An exciting opportunity has arisen within smartmicro UK for a highly skilled Senior Engineer, based at Waterlooville, Hampshire (near Portsmouth) and as part of the global smartmicro technical support team**.** Tasks Technical & Engineering Lead the installation, commissioning, and optimisation of smartmicro radar sensors and ITS solutions on-site Provide advanced technical support to internal teams, clients, and third-party installers, both remotely and in the field Conduct system integration testing (hardware and software) in-house and on-site Manage the internal test sites (keeping those updated and operational) Diagnose and resolve complex engineering issues during pre-installation planning and real-time deployments Ensure all project work meets customer requirements, relevant standards, and agreed method statements Project & Client Leadership Serve as the senior technical representative during project delivery, coordinating with clients, contractors, and stakeholders Present solution designs, technical concepts, and system capabilities in a clear and professional manner Produce high-quality engineering documentation, including manuals, technical guides, and application notes Deliver structured training courses to clients and customer teams on the operation, maintenance, and optimisation of smartmicro products Quality, Compliance & Continuous Improvement Maintain the highest standards of workmanship, safety, and compliance Contribute to product feedback loops, identifying improvement opportunities and supporting product development teams Lead by example, supporting efficient business operations and mentoring junior engineers Requirements Demonstrable senior-level experience in Traffic Signals, ITS, or related highways/transport technology Strong technical competence with field-based engineering tasks and engineering software tools or diagnostics platforms Proven ability to manage multiple projects / deadlines and teams Electrical qualifications (desirable not essential): BS 7671 Wiring Regulations (17th/18th Edition); City & Guilds 2391-52 Inspection & Testing ECS/CSCS/HEA card IPAF certifications: 1B, 3A, or 3B Eligibility to work in the UK with a full UK Driving Licence and fluent English skills Willing to travel nationwide, and overseas as required – Scandinavia and Ireland (including overnight stays) Benefits Permanent full-time contract Exciting projects in a growing market Opportunity to contribute to future Traffic Management Systems Access to the latest technologies and techniques and in-depth training Enjoyable work environment as part of a motivated team with zero bureaucracy Company van and tools provided Company pension and Death in Service benefit Become a part of our innovative company and work together with us to develop our leading technology in the field of radar and hybrid sensors and systems.
