Job Description Under direction, is responsible for performing engineering work which requires a considerable level of analysis and detailed calculations. Working conditions are primarily in an office environment. Exercises direct supervision over assigned staff and functional and technical supervision of project staff. Performs detailed engineering calculations. Prepares analysis reports of assigned engineering projects. Performs site assessments and environmental assessments as needed. Conducts public meetings and various public relations tasks which may include media briefings. Supervises assigned staff in the day-to-day operations and directs project staff as needed. Responds to citizen inquiries and complaints regarding assigned projects. Provides technical assistance to other divisions and departments. Coordinates with other divisions, departments, or municipal agencies on projects under design. Meets with consultants on various projects to discuss designs and design problems. Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited college, university or engineering school approved by a State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers. One (1) year of engineering experience. No substitution for education allowed. Valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License. Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification in the State of Texas. OR Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification from another state with the ability to obtain an EIT Certification in the State of Texas within 6 months of employment. Preferred Qualifications Civil Engineer Traffic or Transportation experience.
