DESCRIPTION Apple Services Engineering is seeking an outstanding leader to guide the industry’s brightest minds in building and operating large-scale distributed systems that power Apple’s storage and database platforms. In this role, you will take on unique challenges across big data, high-volume and low-latency services, and highly available transactional systems. You will lead and grow teams responsible for developing core software, building automated tests, and driving release and reliability engineering for systems that scale to billions of users and petabytes of data. Your teams will leverage state-of-the-art technologies to automate and optimize infrastructure across multiple platforms. We are looking for a collaborative and innovative leader who thrives under tight deadlines, excels at solving complex problems, and consistently delivers high-quality, forward-thinking solutions. This role reports to a senior leader in Virtualized Infrastructure and Service Delivery within Apple Services Engineering. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 18+ years of experience leading high-velocity, cross-functional teams through vision and influence. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Ability to organize, plan, and deliver across functions to meet key milestones. Demonstrated ability to deliver solutions that are maintainable, understandable, and diagnosable. Experience managing or operating distributed systems and delivering internet-scale services. Infrastructure expertise in key areas such as storage, networking, and CDNs. Highly technical, detail-oriented, and willing to roll up your sleeves to drive architecture and solutions. Deeply committed to service delivery, including reliability, operations, and support. Passionate about driving a vision, delivering results, executing effectively, and using data to measure success. Able to lead across organizational boundaries and diverse reporting structures. Strong ability to independently network, learn, and influence cross-functional business and technical teams. Strong collaborator with demonstrated success partnering with adjacent functions such as EPM, SRE, PM, Finance, and Security. Proven track record of mentoring and developing engineers and managers. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience with the lower layers of the storage software stack (filesystems, block devices, SSDs). Experience with NoSQL technologies such as Cassandra, Redis, Solr, or Voldemort. Prior experience developing distributed databases or large-scale storage systems. BS/MS in Computer Science and Engineering or related field
