Description

We’re in an unbelievably exciting area of tech and are fundamentally reshaping the data storage industry. Here, you lead with innovative thinking, grow along with us, and join the smartest team in the industry.
This type of work—work that changes the world—is what the tech industry was founded on. So, if you’re ready to seize the endless opportunities and leave your mark, come join us.

SHOULD YOU ACCEPT THIS CHALLENGE…

At Pure Storage, security isn’t an afterthought—it’s foundational. As data becomes increasingly central to every business, securing that data is not just important, it’s mission-critical. We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our FlashArray Secrets Management Team, a highly skilled team with broad organizational influence and visibility across leadership.

This team plays a dual role:

  • Developing advanced, security-focused product capabilities that directly impact our revenue-generating capabilities and products.
  • Championing security standards and best practices across engineering—ensuring that security is embedded at every level of the development process.

Unlike many companies where security is under-resourced or siloed, Pure Storage invests in security. Here, you’ll be in a role that matters—not only to internal stakeholders but also to our customers. You’ll work on a product with critical dependencies, and your team’s work will have a direct impact on multiple lines of business and future products.

PREFERRED BUT NOT MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
  • Familiarity with security certifications like FIPS and Common Criteria.
  • Experience managing vulnerability remediation programs.
  • Working knowledge of cryptography, network security and their relationship to control and data planes.
  • The ability to balance usability against security.
  • Proven ability to evolve the SDLC as it relates to security concerns including: penetration testing, OSS scanning, static code analysis, and dynamic code analysis
  • Familiarity with emerging security trends (such as ransomware)
Responsibilities

WHY THIS ROLE STANDS OUT:

  • You’ll lead a team of talented software developers while collaborating closely with Product Management, QA, Technical Writing, and peer engineering teams.
  • Our open and transparent culture gives you a voice in both strategy and execution.
  • You’ll have external and internal customer exposure, adding real-world impact to your work.
  • Security is a growth space—its relevance is only increasing, and your expertise will stay future-proof.
  • You’ll gain high visibility with senior leadership, with opportunities to influence company-wide priorities.
  • We’re committed to helping you grow. Pure provides meaningful ways to step up, take ownership, and expand your impact across the organization.
The ideal applicant will bring a strong blend of engineering excellence and a security-first mindset, along with the leadership skills to drive high-quality delivery in a collaborative environment.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BRING TO THIS ROLE…

  • Over 4 years of technical management experience
  • More than 5 years of experience in software development
  • Proven track record of managing projects through the entire software development lifecycle (SDLC) and delivering products on time.
  • Dedicated focus on customer needs and feedback.
  • Experience with agile methodologies, particularly Scrum.
  • In-depth knowledge of quality assurance best practices.
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Interest in Software Security concepts.

This team plays a dual role:

  • Developing advanced, security-focused product capabilities that directly impact our revenue-generating capabilities and products.
  • Championing security standards and best practices across engineering—ensuring that security is embedded at every level of the development process
