The City of Edmonton’s Planning and Environment Services Branch is looking for an experienced project manager who is passionate about climate resilience and energy efficiency programming to lead a transformative private property landscaping project. This position will support the implementation of Edmonton’s Climate Resilience Planning and Development Action Plan - the City’s strategy to ensure we incorporate energy transition and climate adaptation action in every stage of planning and development processes as Edmonton continues to grow. Specifically, this role will develop, manage, and implement Action 4 of the Climate Resilience Planning and Development Action Plan - ‘Pursue Options for Resilient Landscaping Practices on Private Property’ - and will be at the forefront of shaping a greener Edmonton by identifying and implementing initiatives that promote sustainable landscaping while supporting development outcomes.
Initiatives identified for Action 4 include implementing innovative landscaping practices on private properties to enhance biodiversity, conserving water, reducing environmental impacts, enhancing landscaping permitting and enforcement processes, and increasing climate resilient landscaping practices. In collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, this position will establish project plans, support internal change management, and increase community capacity. Community capacity enhancement will include exploring, developing and delivering initiatives that contribute to greenhouse gas reduction targets and achieve climate adaptation goals. In collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, the position will align initiatives focused on sustainable landscaping that ignites knowledge of eco-friendly practices and cultivates capacity for green initiatives that motivates climate adaptation actions and fosters a thriving, sustainable future.
