REQUIREMENTS:

  • Motivated self-starter possessing the ability to participate as both an individual contributor and within a team structure
  • Minimum 5 years proven professional Environmental Compliance experience
  • Proven leadership in the implementation and administration of ISO 14001-certified programs
  • Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) or relevant experience in the field of hazardous materials management or a related field
  • Product Compliance (i.e., REACH, RoHS, TSCA, PFAS, CA Prop 65) experience/knowledge is necessary
  • Computer and MS Office proficiency
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving ability, time management and prioritization skills
  • Continuous learning mindset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including English grammar
  • Interpersonal, multi-tasking skills to drive results individually and as part of a team
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Management OR equivalent experience
  • Must live in Cleveland metro area – we are unable to provide relocation expenses
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
Responsibilities
  • Manage environmental policies and procedures through the process life cycle including development, commissioning, reporting and review. Accountable for compliance with international, federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate the development and maintenance of the Dangerous Goods database and Product Compliance tables within ERP software.
  • Establish and maintain operational procedures to meet the packing, shipping, storage, handling and training requirements of state and federal Department of Transportation for hazardous materials.
  • Evaluate location operations and processes to determine the applicability of federal, state, and local Environmental Regulatory requirements.
  • Manage responses from regulators regarding non-conformance/compliance with applicable federal, state, and local Environmental regulations and monitor corrective action requirements for applicable operations.
  • Lead the ISO 14001 certification process, including the completion of associated recordkeeping, filing, documentation, and corrective actions, along with other ongoing maintenance activities.
  • Conduct environmental and hazardous materials due diligence audit and reviews for acquisitions.
  • Coordinate and execute emergency response activities involving spills or discharges of hazardous materials. Monitor waste disposal practices and procedures for all materials.
  • Coordinate, monitor and report on Environmental indicators (i.e., Hazardous waste generation-US, GHG emissions, etc.).
  • Partner in the training of ISO auditors as well as personnel to recognize, identify, and handle hazardous materials in normal and emergency operations.
  • Analyze current usage/trends performance against standards. Lead and participate in root cause analysis. Identify and present opportunities for improvement to continuously raise the bar.
  • Direct product compliance initiatives with cross-functional constituents including customer requests, surveys, processes, and regulatory updates.
  • Create and disseminate environmental and safety communications for the field.
  • Lead and management of change process for regulatory updates to environmental or hazardous materials requirements.
  • Review weekly parts suppression & recode data, monthly field product additions and vendor product changes and update SAP with appropriate.
  • Participate in strategic and tactical roles to support sustainability initiatives.
