About the opportunity Buddy Advisory is pleased to be partnering with ERIAS, a boutique strategic environmental and social impact assessment consultancy specialising in complex project approvals across the renewable energy, resources, and infrastructure sectors. As ERIAS' project portfolio continues to grow in scale and complexity, they are seeking a Senior Environmental Consultant to join the Marine team. This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys owning complex projects, leading technical delivery in marine and coastal environments, mentoring junior consultants, and building trusted, long-term client relationships in challenging approval environments. What you'll be doing In this senior role, you will lead or provide high-level input across a range of environmental and social impact assessment (ESIA) projects, including: Acting as Project Manager or technical lead on ESIA and marine environmental projects Applying and overseeing appropriate environmental sampling methods across water quality, sediment and biota; including sediment grab samplers, corers, oceanographic instrumentation (e.g. CTDs and current profilers) and biological sampling techniques Designing marine environmental survey programs for baseline studies, impact assessments and monitoring; selecting suitable approaches including transects, quadrats, diver-based surveys, ROVs and remote sensing Analysing, interpreting and presenting marine environmental and biological data to support assessments and decision-making Providing strategic advice, regulatory guidance, and high-quality technical input to clients and internal teams Liaising directly with clients, regulators, subconsultants, and stakeholders Coordinating and participating in fieldwork programs, including offshore and coastal surveys Identifying risks and developing appropriate mitigation strategies Leading or contributing to the preparation, review, and delivery of reports, proposals, and technical documentation Managing project schedules, budgets, resources, and quality assurance Mentoring and supporting junior consultants in their technical and professional development Supporting business development activities and maintaining client relationships Ensuring compliance with all statutory and company safety requirements What we're looking for Bachelor's degree in Marine Science, Marine Biology, Environmental Science, Engineering or a related discipline Postgraduate studies or specialist technical training (advantageous) 5+ years' experience as an environmental consultant, with strong grounding in marine environments Strong experience in environmental impact assessment and project delivery Proven ability to manage complex projects with minimal supervision Strong client, regulator, and stakeholder engagement skills Excellent written communication and technical documentation capability Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and support junior staff Comfortable working on vessels BOSIET certification (advantageous) Proficiency in MS Office and general project management tools Current driver's licence (desirable) Who you are You thrive in complex, fast-moving environments where high-quality work matters.
