The CDFW Cannabis Restoration Grant Program is seeking a highly motivated Senior Environmental Scientist (Specialist) with a passion for conservation and collaboration and interest in contributing meaningful work to support a statewide team focused on the CDFW mission and shaping the cannabis grant program.
Under the general direction of a Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisory), the Senior Environmental Scientist (Specialist) serves in a lead role as part of a statewide team to develop and implement initiatives to increase the pace and scale of environmental restoration, remediation, and cleanup of areas affected by cannabis cultivation and related activities. Specifically, the incumbent will serve as a Grant Manager and develop courses of action to expand and diversify CRGP’s portfolio of projects funded by the Environmental Restoration and Protection Account. Work will include creating measurable efficiency improvements, including establishing restoration priorities, process improvements, tracking monitoring successes at the project level and larger scales, and documenting ecological benefits arising from grant funded restoration projects using scientifically based biological and environmental criteria. Incumbent serves on technical advisory committees and collaborates with Cannabis Program regional staff, regulatory agencies, non-profits, and other entities. The incumbent is expected to work independently and in a team capacity.

Working Conditions
This position offers the possibility of an office-centered telework agreement based on the Department’s current Telework Policy. The incumbent will be required to report to the Sacramento, West Sacramento, Fort Bragg, or Arcata office at the Office of Cannabis’ discretion or as needed for special projects. Up to 20% of travel is required within the state of California via private or public transportation (i.e., automobile, airplane, etc.). Travel may include multiple day overnight stay dependent upon departmental need. Field work will require CDFW approved apparel or uniform.
