Role description: Arcadis is seeking an Environmental Specialist to be based out of Manitoba. This full-time position within our Environmental Restoration group will support our power and energy, freight rail, and industrial projects from a technical standpoint. The Environmental Specialist will assist in developing environmental assessment and remediation programs, and provide technical oversight to our project execution teams. You will have a strong understanding of Manitoba and national remediation standards and regulatory advocacy. You will have the ability to successfully coordinate and collaborate with all parts of the organization, including Client Account Leaders, Market Sector Leaders, and Service Line Leaders in other geographies and business units, and will always have a direct line of communication to Area Leaders. Role accountabilities: This role is responsible for client and regulatory correspondence and interactions, leading teams to evaluate data in order to develop conceptual site models for environmental investigations. The position involves delineating the nature and extent of contamination, evaluating and implementing remedial alternatives, and modifying or optimizing remediation and monitoring programs as needed. Strong writing skills are essential, as the role requires technical report reviewing and writing. Additionally, the position includes training, coaching, and mentoring staff on consulting best practices, while motivating team members to achieve business growth goals. Staying up to date with developments within the industry sector, as well as technical and legislative changes, is important; the role also seeks opportunities to develop a strong professional profile through activities such as conference presentations, publications, and participation on technical committees. The position leads the preparation of specialist elements of bids to support the production of high-quality, winning proposals. Furthermore, it requires being a visible steward of Health & Safety by completing required stewardship goals and serving as a strong mentor and example for H&S practices. Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Engineering or closely related field; advanced degree (MSc, MEng) in relevant areas preferred. 10 or more years' relevant science experience, including leadership of the development and implementation of specialist solutions. Professional accreditation (e.g., PGeo, PEng) status or equivalent, Detailed knowledge of relevant national standards and codes of practice, including applicable provincial and federal regulations. Excellent technical writing skills; able to produce complex reports. The salary range for this position is $112,000-162,000. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position.
