Opportunity
As a Senior Equity Analyst in the Global Insurance and Diversified Financials sector, you will lead sector research and contribute to AIMCo’s value-add by assessing fundamental investment candidates in the global Insurance industry. You will produce differentiated insights through extensive use of both primary (annual and quarterly reports, 10Ks, proxy filings, 13Fs, conference call transcripts, etc.) and secondary (broker reports, industry publications, fund manager commentaries, etc.) information sources, supplemented with direct interviews with corporate management teams. You will bring your knowledge and instincts with a primary research focus on compelling opportunities in the Insurance sector and demonstrate the ability to articulate investment recommendations with precision and conviction to a tight-knit, collaborative team.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Build investment research reports, develop bespoke intrinsic valuations (including sensitivity and scenario analysis where relevant), and defend your recommendations both verbally and in writing
  • Undertake investment screening and modeling using team resources such as S&P Capital IQ, Bloomberg, FactSet, Barra, etc
  • Work in partnership with the Fundamental Equities leadership team and other team members in portfolio idea generation and due diligence
  • Monitor industry trends and global market developments in search of mispriced securities and valuation anomalies and communicate research outcomes proactively
  • Utilize industry research expertise and various expert networks in collaboration opportunities across Public Equities investment teams and other Asset Classes
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external partners to help generate expert perspectives on Insurance and Diversified Financial sector value chains and emerging trends.
  • Assist the Director, Fundamental Research with quarterly reviews of global Fundamental investor peer reviews

Our Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

  • A passion for fundamental, research-driven investing.
  • A deep understanding and perspective of global markets
  • Patience, with a focus on long-term investment cases rather than quarterly earnings releases
  • An undergraduate degree with top academic credentials.
  • CFA and/or CBV, CAIA, CA, CMA designation
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in financial statement review and/or preparation, focused on the Insurance sector
  • Advanced knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • A broad understanding of Fundamental Equities discretionary investment philosophy and approach
  • Exceptional knowledge of Excel
  • Advanced written and verbal communication abilities.
  • A strong commitment to AIMCo’s core values of excellence, transparency, humility, integrity, and collaboration, and inspiring the same in others
