University College London (UCL) — ranked 9th globally and named UK University of the Year 2024 — is seeking a dynamic and strategic property professional to join our Estates Development leadership team as Senior Estates Strategy Manager. Location: Central London – Agile Working (40% office / 60% remote)

We’re looking for a property-savvy professional with:

  • A strong background in property strategy, asset management, or estates planning
  • Experience managing complex estates or property portfolios
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills at all levels
  • Excellent analytical capabilities with an eye for financial and spatial optimisation
  • A strategic mindset with the ability to translate vision into operational delivery

A degree and/or professional qualification in a property-related discipline is desirable, as is knowledge of space management, lease planning, and hybrid working models.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a key member of the team, you’ll be at the heart of delivering UCL’s bold and ambitious Estates Vision 2050, spanning a portfolio of over 250 buildings and 730,000m² of world-leading academic, research, residential, and cultural spaces. Your work will directly shape UCL’s future — guiding space strategy, optimising our property portfolio, and enabling transformational growth in research and student capacity.
This is a high-impact role blending property strategy, stakeholder engagement, and change leadership in one of the most complex and diverse estates portfolios in UK higher education.

️ WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Leading development and implementation of estate-wide space and property strategies
  • Driving value through property optimisation, lease rationalisation, and strategic space utilisation
  • Partnering with senior academic, operational and external stakeholders to define, scope and brief major projects
  • Championing data-driven decisions by analysing space and utilisation data
  • Advising on property solutions across teaching, labs, offices, museums and more
  • Supporting strategic business cases and ensuring alignment from feasibility to delivery
