Key Duties – Estimation and Commercial Support for Fire Doors & Glazing Prepare detailed, accurate cost estimates, quotations, and tenders for fire rated doors, screens, and specialist glazing systems. Interpret complex architectural and engineering drawings, project specifications, and compliance standards related to fire safety and performance glazing. Engage directly with contractors, architects, and consultants, responding to technical queries and providing support throughout project lifecycle. Collaborate closely with sales, engineering, and procurement to optimise solutions, costs, and delivery timelines. Track project changes, evaluate potential impacts on cost and programme, and revise estimates accordingly. Proactively identify and pursue new commercial opportunities in targeted construction and architectural sectors. Essential Technical Knowledge – Fire Doors, Security Glazing & Regulations Comprehensive understanding of fire door and specialist glazing products, including steel and aluminium systems. Strong familiarity with fire safety standards: BS, EN, and relevant building regulations for fire doors and fire-resistant glazing. Ability to review, interpret, and clarify technical submittals, certification requirements, and specification documentation. Experience working with construction drawings, bills of quantities, and digital measurement tools. High proficiency in estimation and project management software. Critical Selling & Communication Skills – Client Engagement in Building Envelope Projects Demonstrate persuasive selling skills in meetings, presentations, and negotiations to secure profitable projects. Communicate clearly with diverse audiences, tailoring technical information for both expert and non-expert stakeholders. Cultivate strong, lasting client relationships, building trust through prompt, accurate, and professional communication. Support the sales process by providing technical insights and value-driven recommendations for bespoke solutions. Problem Solving & Analysis – Solutions for Compliance and Delivery Apply analytical thinking to resolve technical, commercial, and logistical challenges during estimation and delivery phases. Develop alternative proposals where project constraints demand innovative fire safety and glazing solutions. Manage multiple active projects, prioritising workload to meet strict deadlines and client requirements. Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to streamline estimation processes and increase profitability.
