JOB OVERVIEW:

Basestruct is currently seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess specialized expertise in estimating insitu concrete, basement retention systems, suspended slabs, and slabs on ground projects. You will be responsible for preparing accurate, timely, and competitive cost estimates for our construction projects, ensuring they are delivered within budget and scope.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a senior estimating role with a focus on insitu concrete, basement retention systems, suspended slabs, and slabs on ground projects.
  • Qualifications: A degree or diploma in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in estimating software, Excel, and the ability to read and interpret detailed construction drawings and specifications.
  • Expert Knowledge: Deep knowledge of construction processes, materials, and local building codes, particularly in concrete and basement systems.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex information to clients, stakeholders, and internal teams.
  • Detail-Oriented: Strong attention to detail with a systematic approach to tasks and problem-solving.

Responsibilities
  • Estimate Preparation: Prepare detailed cost estimates for insitu concrete, basement retention systems, suspended slabs, and slabs on ground projects from initial inquiry to final tender submission.
  • Site Assessments: Conduct site visits to evaluate project conditions, identify challenges, and collect necessary data for precise cost estimations.
  • Tender Analysis: Review and analyze tender documents, including project drawings and specifications, to determine the full scope and required materials.
  • Quantity Take-offs: Perform precise quantity take-offs to produce comprehensive material and labor cost estimates.
  • Project Coordination: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure estimates align with project objectives and timelines.
  • Risk Identification: Evaluate and identify potential risks, offering practical solutions for cost savings and risk mitigation.
  • Client Interaction: Collaborate with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to obtain competitive quotes, negotiate pricing, and ensure the best value.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor and guide junior estimators, fostering a positive, productive work environment and ensuring consistent high-quality results.
