Position Overview: The Senior Estimator will work alongside the Chief Estimator to manage multiple tenders and be responsible for all aspects of the estimate and prepare for closing. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in all aspects of the tender process, including reviewing tender documents, generating cost estimates, collaborating with subcontractors, and supporting successful project handovers.
The successful candidate has the opportunity to work out of our east end OR new west end office.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or College Diploma in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in preconstruction management or a lead estimation role, with a focus on infrastructure construction projects.
  • Proven ability to produce tender schedules and conceptual cost calculations.
  • Strong knowledge of infrastructure projects, including highways, bridges, roads, water and sewer, wastewater treatment plants, and pumping stations.
  • Familiarity with OPSS, CCDC/CCA contracts, and MTO (Ministry of Transportation Ontario) standards.
  • Proficiency in Project Estimating principles, including planning, execution, pricing, and vendor/subcontractor management.
  • A knack for working with construction estimating software, project management tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, coupled with exceptional attention to detail for delivering accurate estimates.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Obtain tender documents, review site conditions, and perform pre-qualification tasks.
  • Review and comprehend tender specifications and collaborate with consultants for clarifications.
  • Communicate with subcontractors and suppliers to solicit competitive pricing.
  • Perform quantity calculations and generate cost estimates using estimation software.
  • Secure bonding, insurance, and other tender requirements for submissions.
  • Prepare and submit tender proposals, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
  • Facilitate the handover of all project details to the field operations team after bid awards.
  • Support change order pricing and maintain thorough documentation for estimates.
  • Maintain and update a directory of subcontractors, suppliers, and historical bid information.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
