TITLE:

Senior Estimator
Due to recent project wins we are looking to expand our PMO team at KBR and have an opportunity for a Senior Estimator to join our Adelaide team. Role to be based in Adelaide but would consider other locations for the right candidate.
The role would be to support our client SA Water in the delivery of Cost Assurance for program delivery of the $1.4bn capital delivery expenditure for the next 2 years. The role would also support the national team on projects across the Transport, Water, Defence and Buildings portfolios.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Proven experience as an Estimator in the construction industry, with a track record of successfully winning profitable work.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction methodologies, materials, and industry standards.
  • Proficiency in using estimating software (in particular Expert Estimation) and other relevant tools.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative environment and make positive contributions to team culture.
  • Proficient understanding of construction contracts and legal implications related to estimates and bids.
  • Ability to negotiate with contractors, and clients and other stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with risk assessment and management in construction projects.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES SA WATER:

  • First principal review of contractors “open-book” cost estimate.
  • Validating methodology, risk & opportunity, and schedule meets SAW requirements.
  • Leading negotiations for cost adjustments with the contractors estimating team.
  • Reporting to the Lead Estimator and working with our SA Water client stakeholders and JV partners, confirm actions taken during the review process to confirm value for money, and recommendation for award to the JV contractor.
  • Manage workload to ensure timely progress of estimate from submission to award.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES GENERAL:

  • Prepare timely and accurate cost estimates, quantities, prices and costing to meet AACEI classifications ranging from Class 5 to Class 2, across the various portfolios
  • Schedule works in a logical and proficient manner, that identifies accurate productivity rates and program in consultation with project teams
  • Understand and interpret specification and standards and assess their impact on costs
  • Develop accurate estimates through combination of first principles pricing of direct and indirect job costs or via benchmarking depending on estimate classification
  • Prepare request for quotation for subcontractor/suppliers, where required
  • Demonstrated understanding of analysis and assessment of subcontractor quotes
  • Detailed tender handover including development of Basis of Estimates
