Cantiro is currently looking for a Senior Estimator, Multi-Family.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Building, Construction Management, Architectural Technologies, Quantity Surveying or equivalent from a recognized technical institute.
  • 5+ years’ experience in residential construction.
  • Experience with construction estimation software such as Bluebeam and/or Revit.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with proficiency in HomeFront, BuildPro, and SupplyPro.
  • Excellent working knowledge of the Alberta Building Code.
    Please Note: Our office is located on 124 Street and 102 Avenue; there are numerous public parking options within close proximity to our office. Cantiro will assist the successful candidate with a list of available lots in the area.

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Ability to interpret and provide comments on architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical blueprints and specifications and costing points of view.
  • Expert working knowledge of Excel and MS Project.
  • Effective verbal, written and listening communication skills.
  • Proven planning, communication, organizing, analytical decision making and negotiating skills.
  • New home building experience considered an asset

Responsibilities
  • Provide precise and reliable cost estimates for townhomes and midrise projects through drawing, specifications, and subtrades.
  • Develop detailed project budgets that align with internal and external clients, and project goals.
  • Explore opportunities for value engineering / cost savings to optimize costs while maintaining or improving the quality and functionality of the project.
  • Lead Estimators while making day-to-day decisions to ensure productivity and accuracy.
  • Work collaboratively with project teams and stakeholders to refine and update cost estimates.
  • Supervise, train, communicate monthly goals, and assign priority tasks to balance workloads across the estimating team.
  • Check and verify design drawings to confirm alignment to specifications and design requirements.
  • Liaise with other departments to ensure efficiencies are created and maintained.
  • Assist in establishing preliminary budget during land acquisition to aid in determining feasibility of a project.
  • Manage tender release; track, accept, review, and level quotes and provide recommendations to Project Management on trade selection for projects, based on tender results.
  • Establish finalized budgets for projects based on tender.
  • Create/Edit model templates, lots, job numbers, budgets and purchase orders in HomeFront / ERP software. Manage data throughput to Build Pro and Accounting.
  • Update and maintain vendor information, pricing and item dictionaries in Homefront / ERP software.
  • Assist in release and execution of contracts for projects.
  • Provide custom pricing on options for retail projects.
  • Other scope as requested.
