ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking a skilled Senior Excess & General Liability Adjuster to oversee complex Excess claims and General Liability matters. This role requires experience handling Excess files that are likely to reach the policy layer, as well as strong technical ability in third-party Bodily Injury (BI) and Property Damage (PD) claims. The ideal candidate is an experienced multi-line adjuster with the ability to navigate complex coverage issues, coordinate with multiple stakeholders, and provide strategic oversight. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * Active Excess Claims: * Manage and oversee claims approaching or exceeding primary policy limits. * Participate in frequent claim calls with primary carriers. * Provide consistent updates, feedback, and recommendations to primary carriers and defense counsel. * Understand and apply excess coverage layers and contract wording to ensure appropriate claim handling. * General Liability (BI & PD): * Investigate, evaluate, and resolve third-party liability claims involving bodily injury and property damage. * Review policy language to confirm coverage, assess damages, and develop resolution strategies. * Negotiate settlements and participate in mediations as necessary. * Oversight & Coordination: * Liaise with carriers, brokers, attorneys, and other stakeholders to manage expectations and drive resolution. * Prepare clear reports and articulate resolution strategies to management and clients. REQUIREMENTS * 7+ years of experience handling General Liability and/or Excess claims. * Prior experience managing Excess claim files is strongly preferred. * Demonstrated knowledge of coverage layering, contract interpretation, and complex claims. * Strong communication skills—both verbal and written—with the ability to provide clear, professional guidance. * Multi-line adjusting experience strongly preferred. * Active adjuster’s license required. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Extensive experience collaborating with primary carriers and defense counsel on Excess matters. * Proven ability to provide oversight on high-value, complex claims. * Strong negotiation and mediation skills with successful track record of settlements.
