We are on the lookout for a dedicated individual to Manage all the functional operations of engineering and maintenance, ensuring the continuance of production and organizational activities to meet business expectations. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Maintenance & Repair of All Sewing Machines Ensure timely execution of preventive and corrective maintenance for all machinery (e.g., sewing machines, bonding machines, cutting machines). Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues efficiently to minimize downtime. Maintain accurate and up-to-date service records for all machines. Technical Supervision Lead the mechanical team by assigning daily tasks and overseeing their execution. Provide hands-on technical guidance to junior mechanics and technicians. Ensure proper machine calibration and settings aligned with varying style and production requirements. Installation & Commissioning Oversee the installation, setup, and commissioning of new machinery or the relocation of existing equipment. Support the implementation of new layouts and production line configurations. Coordination with Production Collaborate closely with Production Executives, VSMs, and the Technical team to ensure machines are prepared and optimized according to style feeding plans. Support quick and efficient changeovers during style transitions. Spare Parts Management Maintain an inventory of critical spare parts, tools, and consumables. Coordinate with the engineering or procurement team for timely ordering and replenishment of parts. Compliance & Safety Ensure all machinery complies with internal and external safety and compliance standards (e.g., ISO, WRAP, Brand Audits). Train machine operators and mechanics on safe handling procedures and preventive practices. Reporting Prepare and review daily and weekly machine performance, breakdown, and downtime reports. Communicate key mechanical issues and performance updates to the management team. Liaison with External Service Providers Coordinate with OEMs and third-party service providers for machine servicing, warranty claims, and specialized repairs Plan for new installations and modifications and oversee all maintenance activities in areas such as air conditioning, boilers, generators, iron, heat seal, cutting machines, air compressors etc. whilst ensuring effective allocation of resources in order to ensure that work is carried out as per requirements Together with Electricians ensure electrical and electronic breakdowns at the factory are solved in a timely manner thereby, facilitating uninterrupted operations Engage in factory construction/ expansion as and when requested, coordinate with Contractors, supervise workmanship, ensure the timely completion of same whilst, following-up on the relevant payments thereby, meeting organizational expectations in an effective manner Ensure adherence to energy saving initiatives in order to reduce waste and conserve energy whilst conducting awareness programs pertaining to same, been the point person for sustainability initiatives. Ensure electrical and electronic breakdowns within the factory are solved in a timely manner to facilitate uninterrupted operations Ensure the training and development needs of subordinates are identified and communicated to relevant personnel, suitable development interventions are implemented and monitored in order to ensure that the capabilities of the Mechanical team are developed in line with current and future organizational requirements Oversee the MIPS process (Machine in and out process) and machine spare parts whilst carrying out the following: Maintain the system accuracy of the MIPS system and ensure that the data is accurate and constantly updated Obtain and retrieve data from the MIPS system according to the requirements Complete the following in an effective and timely manner in order to ensure a safe work environment: Ensure adherence to factory standards and measures pertaining to Health and Safety/ Electrical and Mechanical Safety whilst, engaging in the maintenance activities of same thereby, facilitating the process of providing safe work conditions. Take responsibility for fire safety within the premises by adhering to set processes and procedures such as timely conduction of fire drills, maintenance of fire extinguishers, awareness and trainings, etc. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS Degree in Mechanical Engineering 10+ years of hands-on experience in a senior mechanical role within a large-scale apparel manufacturing environment serving premium global customers. Demonstrated ability to drive machine efficiency, minimize downtime, and support continuous production improvement initiatives Strong technical knowledge of industrial sewing machines (e.g., JUKI, Brother, Pegasus, and Shingling). Sound understanding of garment construction, production sequences, and machinery integration. Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage teams and work under tight production timelines. Experience in implementing preventive maintenance schedules and best practices. Familiarity with non-sewing plant equipment such as mini boilers, air compressors, and bonding machines.
Responsibilities
Manage all functional operations of engineering and maintenance to ensure production continuity. Oversee maintenance, technical supervision, and compliance with safety standards.
