Description

The incumbent shall support the administrative/technical & research activities in the Thermal & Fluids Laboratory. The incumbent shall also support laboratory teaching classes and equipment operation, to achieve smooth functioning of research/teaching activities in the laboratory, while ensuring that safety complies with school policy and legal requirements.

The duties include: -

  • Support the daily laboratory activities for teaching & research purposes.
  • Ensure good laboratory housekeeping and safe laboratory practices.
  • Conduct/review risk assessment, safe work procedures and standard operating procedures for lab activities.
  • Manage security of laboratory’s access and compliance of house rules by users of the laboratory
  • Support laboratory teaching classes, for full-time and part-time undergraduate students.
  • Ensure compliance and safe equipment operation of non-ionizing radiation in the laboratory.
  • Manage chemical/gas inventory list and monitor chemical movement.
  • Liaise with suppliers on timely equipment setup, repair and maintenance.
  • Procurement of consumables and equipment for lab operations.
  • Asset management and maintaining proper records for inventory auditing.
  • Appointment in Emergency Response Team, Safety Committee, Staff Welfare Committee.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the reporting officer and school management

Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Chemical engineering or Chemistry related with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience and knowledge in risk management, workplace safety and health, including ISO 45001.
  • Experience in conducting risk assessment and standard operating procedures
  • Experience in operation of lab support equipment.
  • Experience in management of non-ionising irradiating apparatus.
  • Experience in handling and management of chemicals and gas supply yard.
  • Experience in procurement process.
  • Experience in machining, mechanical assembly, part replacement is a plus.
  • Experience in Emergency Response Team is a plus.
  • Able to work independently and as a team. A good team player.
