The Directorate of Estates and Facilities Management (E&FM) are responsible for the management and day-to-day running of the University estate and ensures essential services are in place for all who work, study and visit Glasgow Caledonian University. E&FM are also responsible for the strategic planning and transformation of the University estate to a modern, responsive and sustainable built environment that enhances student, staff and visitor experience and host community experience- enabling the University to perform its core purpose of delivering high-quality Learning & Teaching.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Facilities Manager (Hard Services) to join the E&FM Directorate on a 1.0 FTE basis who has excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills and who possesses the relevant Hard FM and Maintenance Management experience. Strong leadership skills will be essential as you will be managing internal and external stakeholders at all levels along with competing demands. The role holder will have the ability to work on their own initiative, as well as a team environment.
Working closely with the Head of Asset Management and the Senior Facilities Manager (Maintenance Projects), this role requires 5 days a week on-site presence to lead and manage the facilities management and operational maintenance needs of the Glasgow campus in particular, but with occasional travel to the London campus. The operational maintenance could be reactive maintenance, planned maintenance, statutory and compliance related maintenance and could be multi-disciplinary involving either architectural, mechanical or electrical disciplines.
In addition, there is a significant amount of ‘backlog maintenance’ which have built up and this is a critical role to address the backlog of maintenance issues.
The postholder will be responsible for dealing with the University’s day-to-day maintenance needs and any maintenance issues which arise and is a role that is focused on operational maintenance.
The postholder will have Line Management responsibilities and is required to have a degree qualification (or equivalent) in a related field.
Experience of working in a similar role in a Higher Education environment would be advantageous.
