WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking individual to join our team as a Senior Farm Hand. The ideal candidate will have practical skills, interpersonal abilities, and a strong work ethic. You should have a genuine appreciation for nature and agriculture, along with a strong commitment to safety and ensuring a secure environment for everyone on the farm.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 2 years’ experience in agriculture or horticulture
  • A demonstrated passion for regenerative agriculture and sustainable practices
  • A desire to innovatively develop best and safe practices, and farming techniques and processes
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience in operating and maintaining a range of modern farming equipment and being a positive member of a work team.
  • Leading small teams would be an advantage, as well as prioritising activities
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to our Orchard Manager, the role is a full-time position in Upton Hill & Tarcombe Orchards in regional Victoria.
The position involves supporting our day-to-day farming operations. During the off-season, the role assists with general farm and orchard maintenance, as well as activities planning. During the busy period from October to February (peak season), the role supports harvesting operations, which may require additional hours. Availability on weekends is also necessary during this time, as well as occasional weekend availability during the off-season.

If you’re passionate about agriculture, enjoy working outdoors, and love working collaboratively across functional departments, this could be the role for you.

  • You must hold a current driver’s licence
  • You hold a Chemical Users Certificate (Preferred)
  • Relevant licences and qualifications pertinent to agriculture would be an advantage
  • Sound mechanical knowledge
  • Experience working in a broadacre or irrigated crop environment (preferred)
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Working safely mindset
  • Proven experience in participating and overseeing OHS practices in farm environments
  • Comfortable working under different seasonal weather conditions
  • You know your way around a computer and feel good using systems at an intermediate level
  • Working both collaboratively within a team and independently with minimal supervisio
