The fellowship offers 12 months in a busy tertiary referral centre for Intestinal Failure and complex IBD. Southampton is a commissioned IF unit receiving patients from South central region. It is also the regional centre for complex IBD patients. There is also an opportunity to gain experience in complex abdominal wall surgery.
University Hospital Southampton has a large colorectal department that also deals with complex and recurrent colorectal cancer, robotics, and complex pelvic floor. Whilst the focus of the fellowship will on developing clinical and operative skills in the field of IBD, IF and abdominal wall surgery, opportunities to see other aspects of colorectal practice will be possible.
