POSITION SUMMARY:

Crinetics Pharmaceuticals has a strong partnership with an emerging biopharmaceutical company in endocrinology/rare disease to support Medical Affairs activities and execution.
As customer-facing field-based medical experts, the Senior Medical Science Liaison (MSL) supports our client’s products, pipeline, and therapeutic areas by advancing scientific and collaborative relationships and acting as a conduit for timely knowledge exchange with key members of external healthcare communities and internal stakeholders towards optimized patient outcomes. The MSL function is knowledge-based, anchored in educating internal and external stakeholders in the science behind and safe and appropriate use of our products. The MSL supports the generation of scientific knowledge through facilitation of investigator-initiated trials and publications.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • Terminal degree; Pharm.D., Ph.D., M.D., or D.O., preferred. Candidates with advanced clinical degrees (PA, APRN), relevant skills and experience will be considered.
  • 12 years of professional experience in industry
  • 5+ years of direct experience as an MSL
  • Located in the assigned territory.

Preferred:

  • Minimum of 3 years in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry preferred. Prior experience in providing MSL-level support to products or devices in endocrinology and/or rare disease, including KOL development, investigator-initiated clinical trials, publications and educational programs, highly preferred.
  • MSL and/or strong scientific experience in endocrinology, and specifically growth hormone-related disorders, preferred.
  • Experience in other Medical Affairs functions (i.e., Publication Planning, Scientific communications, HEOR, etc.) is preferred.
  • Pre-launch experience is highly preferred.
  • Excellent written, oral, communication, leadership and organizational skills.
  • Solid interpersonal and communication skills; demonstrated relationship builder. Ability to work well across teams to communicate relevant insights and drive strategy.
  • Strong presentation and writing skills. Skilled in use of Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Project etc.)
  • Must have a style that promotes respect, credibility and trust throughout the organization.
  • Results oriented and self-motivated.
Responsibilities

These may include but are not limited to:

  • Lead efforts in recognizing, identifying, cultivating, and integrating KOL relationships in endocrinology/rare disease to enhance the company’s reputation as a scientifically innovative industry partner.
  • Provide scientific support for pre-launch initiatives, including medical congresses, advisory boards, and educational events.
  • Connect with and gain access, establish long-term, strategic scientific relationships with KOLs, and connect KOLs to appropriate company partners ensuring research, scientific, and clinical interests are communicated.
  • Gather and report internally, medical and clinical insights that contribute to enhancement of important medical positions, plans, future research and development efforts; and identify unmet needs
  • Identify opportunities for scientific growth and generation of medical evidence in support and/or expansion of therapies and execution of mutual interest initiatives such as research and continuing medical education (CME).
  • Acquire and maintain a level of medical-scientific knowledge in endocrinology and/or rare disease involving clinical issues related to company’s products; able to interpret and disseminate pertinent scientific/clinical data and evaluate current and new information as it applies to company’s therapies.
  • Contribute to periodic updates of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) and responses to standard response letters (SRL) in a fair and balanced manner.
  • Tactical delivery of programs according to established objectives and serves as a resource for education and dissemination of pertinent, clear, and balanced medical-scientific information to internal audiences (Marketing, Medical Affairs, Research & Development and Sales) and external audiences (healthcare professionals, consumers, patient organizations, distributors, etc.)
  • Ability to lead field medical related projects such as Congress planning, advisory boards, roundtables presentations etc as requested
  • Serve as a mentor for new MSLs in role.
