THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer we are seeking a Senior Finance Manager to join our team supporting our Sustainment Operations Business Units. We’re looking for “can-do” self-starters, who have a passion for driving program execution and business unit growth opportunities whilst developing their team and implementing a positive workplace culture. The ideal candidate will be someone who enjoys collaborating with diverse stakeholders, enjoys working in a customer facing role that can drive positive business and customer outcomes.
The role holds a breadth of leadership responsibilities as a member of both the Finance Leadership Team and the Sustainment Operations Business Unit Leadership Team. With a passion and responsibility to drive best outcomes for the business, this key leadership position will ensure that the business unit leadership team and their programs are supported with the appropriately skilled financial resources to deliver standardised high quality financial management and reporting, program cost performance reporting, cost analysis deliverables and other financial support.
This role is based in Brisbane and the manager can accommodate permanent or fixed term options.

  • Experience managing and resolving complex commercial issues including financial and contractual matters.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare high-level executive/management reports to identify issues, discuss options and recommend actions and influence business focused outcomes.
  • A focus on continuous improvement and driving functional excellence.
  • Ability to meet Australian defence security requirements.
  • A graduate or post graduate degree in finance, accounting, law or similar, with at least 10 years relevant experience.
  • Actively contribute to Financial Leadership Initiatives and be a proactive member of the Finance Leadership Team
  • Collaboratively work with other Business Unit Finance leaders and the broader finance function to meet business and program needs

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Relevant Business/Accounting/Finance degree
  • Post graduate Professional membership with CPA / CAANZ or equivalent
  • Proven leadership skills and management techniques
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with key senior manager and executive stakeholders
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to deliver on-time with high quality
  • Change management, continuous improvement and business process automation experience and qualifications desirable (e.g. Lean Six Sigma)
  • Applicants must be Australian Citizens and the ability to obtain a Defence security clearance would be required
