About The Role

An established regional statutory authority is seeking an experienced, proactive Senior Finance Officer / Finance Team Coordinator to join its Corporate Services team.

Moving beyond transactional processing, this pivotal role coordinates day-to-day financial operations across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Treasury functions. You will act as the operational escalation point, oversee quality assurance across bank and ledger reconciliations, support month-end closing, and identify practical opportunities to modernise and streamline core financial workflows.

What You’ll Do

  • Operational Coordination & Workflow Oversight: Coordinate the daily tasks of the transactional finance team, balancing workloads across AP, AR/sundry billing, receipts, and cash allocation to meet strict deadlines.
  • Team Guidance & Capability Building: Provide peer coaching, onboard new team members, and foster a collaborative, high-performance team culture.
  • Month-End Leadership & Balance Sheet Integrity: Manage complex general ledger reconciliations, oversee accruals and prepayments, review journal entries, and assist the Financial Accounting team with timely month-end reporting.
  • Continuous Improvement & Internal Controls: Review existing end-to-end financial workflows, eliminate manual bottlenecks through ERP enhancement, and uphold risk controls and audit compliance.
  • Cross-Functional Stakeholder Management: Act as a key business partner to internal operational teams and external vendors, resolving escalations, complex billing queries, and payment discrepancies.

What You’ll Bring

  • Demonstrated Experience: Proven background in a Senior Accounts Officer, Finance Team Leader, or Assistant Accountant capacity, with hands-on exposure to full-cycle AP/AR, bank reconciliations, and month-end closes.
  • Leadership & Coordination Capability: Demonstrated ability to lead by example, allocate workflows, guide peers, and maintain accountability.
  • ERP & Systems Aptitude: Advanced proficiency with enterprise accounting software and modern financial systems, combined with intermediate-to-advanced Microsoft Excel skills (vlookups, index/match, pivot tables).
  • Problem-Solving & Commercial Acumen: High attention to detail with the ability to spot variances, diagnose root causes, and propose practical process improvements.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Exceptional interpersonal skills to consult, negotiate, and build productive relationships across both technical and non-financial business units.
  • Relevant Qualifications: A tertiary qualification or Diploma in Accounting/Business, or equivalent practical industry experience (progress towards CA/CPA is welcomed).

Why Join Us?

Our organisation is committed to delivering essential services that support thriving regional communities. We offer a connected, purpose-driven culture backed by the stability and scope of a leading regional authority.

  • Flexible Working: Genuine commitment to work-life balance through hybrid office and remote working arrangements.
  • Inclusive & Values-Driven: A workplace culture founded on safety, integrity, collaboration, and community impact.
  • Career Development: Investment in professional training, capability building, and leadership progression.
