Description

Join a high-growth private credit investment manager specialising in real estate-backed lending. With approximately $1.5bn in funds under management and ambitious plans for further growth, the business is expanding its finance function. This is a newly created Senior Finance Manager role reporting directly to the CFO, offering broad exposure across funds, valuations, investor reporting, corporate finance and process improvement.

The Role

The successful candidate will join a growing investment management business as a senior member of the finance function, reporting directly to the CFO. The role has a broad remit across both funds and corporate finance, with a key focus on ensuring funds are appropriately valued, reported and managed as the business continues to scale.

This is not a daily NAV or reconciliation fund accounting role. An experienced Fund Accountant is already in place, with this position providing senior oversight and technical expertise across fund structures, valuations, reporting and controls.

Key Responsibilities

Funds & Valuation

  • Senior oversight across multiple funds and trusts
  • Ensure assets are appropriately valued and reported
  • Oversight of fund reporting and distributions
  • Technical oversight of fund structures and valuation methodologies
  • Review and challenge existing fund accounting outputs
  • Strengthen processes and controls as the business scales

Regulatory & Investor Reporting

  • Ownership of key regulatory reporting requirements
  • Ensure appropriate investor disclosures
  • Maintain strong governance around fund reporting and investor information
  • Support the business as the number and size of funds increases

Corporate Finance

  • Ownership of budgeting and forecasting
  • Develop a more sophisticated reforecasting process
  • Improve monthly management reporting
  • Enhance board reporting and financial analysis
  • Provide commercial insight into business performance
  • Support the CFO across broader corporate finance matters

Controls & Process Improvement

The business is looking to develop a more mature finance control environment as it grows. The role will help strengthen controls, governance and processes, with a longer-term objective of working towards an appropriate external assurance framework.

Team Structure

The successful candidate will report directly to the CFO and work alongside an established finance team, including:

  • Corporate Accountant
  • Fund Accountant
  • Offshore finance support team

Ideal Background

The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting and technical background combined with commercial capability. Experience across fund management, private credit, property funds, investment management or a similar environment would be highly relevant.

Key requirements:

  • Qualified accountant
  • Senior Finance Manager / Associate Director-level experience
  • Strong understanding of funds and trusts
  • Experience with asset valuation and financial reporting
  • Understanding of investor reporting and disclosures
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge
  • Budgeting and forecasting experience
  • Strong management reporting capability
  • Interest in controls, governance and process improvement
  • Ability to operate autonomously and work closely with a CFO

Someone who understands how investment funds should operate, rather than simply processing the accounting, will be particularly valuable.

Systems

The business is currently undergoing a finance systems transformation, moving from its existing accounting platform to a larger enterprise-level ERP system. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to play a key role in the evolution of finance systems and processes.

Culture & Working Environment

The business operates in a collaborative and entrepreneurial environment, with the successful candidate working closely with the CFO and wider leadership team. The organisation values face-to-face collaboration and strong relationships.

Cultural fit is important, with the business looking for someone who will take ownership, build strong relationships and work effectively within an established team.
