Come build a better future, one funding arrangement at a time.    About the role    We’re seeking a Senior Finance Officer that will lead the financial administration of the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) and other funding programs that support local, regional, and state-level recovery initiatives.     This role goes beyond traditional accounting functions. You will play a key role in the end-to-end management of grant payments, including high-volume claims processing, financial assurance, and reporting across complex funding programs. You will help design and maintain robust, compliant, and efficient grant payment systems, while supporting councils and stakeholders to navigate funding requirements effectively.    You will also provide leadership and guidance to team members, contribute to impact assurance activities, and drive continuous improvement in processes, systems, and controls to ensure disaster recovery funding is delivered transparently, efficiently, and equitably.      About You     You are a well-rounded finance and grants professional who combines strong financial discipline with practical experience in grants administration and stakeholder engagement. You thrive in complex, high-volume environments and are comfortable balancing compliance requirements with operational delivery.    To be successful in this role, you will have:   Demonstrated experience in grants management, including end-to-end administration of funding programs, claims assessment, and payment processing  Proven capability managing or overseeing high-volume claims and payments, with strong attention to accuracy, timeliness, and compliance  Sound understanding of government financial frameworks, reporting requirements, and funding agreements  Experience working with grants management systems (e.g. SmartyGrants or similar) and financial systems, with the ability to improve workflows and controls  Strong analytical skills to assess financial risk, eligibility, and assurance outcomes  Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial and grant-related matters clearly to councils, internal teams, and senior stakeholders  A collaborative and adaptable approach, with experience working across agencies, local governments, and multidisciplinary teams  Demonstrated leadership capability, including mentoring staff, supporting team performance, and contributing to a positive team culture.    Experience in audit, public sector finance, disaster recovery programs, or assurance activities will be highly regarded.    Essential Requirements   Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Business, Economics or Commerce or other relevant field and membership of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand or CPA Australia or IIA Australia, or equivalent relevant experience.      For more information read the full Role Description: Senior Finance Officer    About the Agency  The NSW Reconstruction Authority is a statutory corporation and executive agency of the Premier’s Department, that will improve how NSW plans for disasters and ensure that we recover from them faster.    To reduce the severity and impacts of disasters, the NSW Reconstruction Authority will complete critical planning and preparation with communities, businesses and government.
