Type: Permanent Hours: Full time Location: Wellington Business Group: Finance Branch: Enterprise Services Salary: $121,366 - $138,704 About the Role This role is central to delivering high-quality financial reporting, advice, and accountability. You’ll lead processes for year-end reporting, Select Committee, Parliamentary Questions and OIA responses, and manage external audit processes. You’ll also provide technical financial accounting advice and help shape financial policy and procedures. Key Responsibilities Help maintain effective internal financial controls. Lead financial and performance reporting processes, ensuring compliance with GAAP, Treasury instructions, and relevant legislation. Respond to OIA requests, Select Committee questions, and WPQs. Provide PBE IPSAS advice and support decision-making with financial accounting insights. Maintain and improve financial policies and procedures. Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders including Treasury and auditors. Selection criteria Proven experience in a senior financial accounting role, particularly in the public sector. Experience in the preparation of Annual Report financial statements and supporting external audits. Experience responding to OIAs, Select Committee questions, WPQOs. CFIS understanding. Extensive use of computerised accounting systems. In-depth understanding of public sector financial reporting, management, and accountability. Strong technical knowledge of the Public Finance Act, Public Service Act, GAAP, and PBE IPSAS. Fully qualified Chartered Accountant or Certified Chartered Accountant. Excellent communication and influencing skills across all levels of a large organisation. Why Join Us?
