The VCAA is a statutory body responsible to the Victorian Minister for Education, serving both government and non-government schools. We provide high quality curriculum, assessment and reporting for all Victorian students, birth to 18 years.

An exciting opportunity exists to join the VCAA in the Corporate Services Division as Senior Financial Accountant within the Finance Unit.

  • Salary: $113,022 - $136,747 pro rata (Plus Superannuation of 12%)
  • Full time - ongoing role
  • Usual hours of work: Full time, FTE 1.0 (flexible work conditions may are available)

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential: Bachelor’s degree in finance - Accounting Membership to CPA, CA or equivalent
Desirable: Experience with Microsoft Power BI will be highly regarded

Responsibilities

The purpose of this role is to provide financial accounting support for the unique functions of the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority. The Senior Financial Accountant is responsible for preparation monthly financial performance reporting, general ledger reconciliations and will be a key team player in annual financial reporting and compliance activities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Prepare and maintain of monthly financial performance reports in Power BI
  • Prepare monthly general ledger reconciliations, including right-of-use asset calculations
  • Prepare annual financial reporting and compliance requirements, as part of a team
  • Assist with collation of materials for interim and year end External Audit (Victorian Auditor-General Office) requests, ensuring they are easy to follow, complete and accurate
  • Assist in the annual review and update of VCAA finance policies
  • Conduct financial analysis and provide advice, as required, to support decisions
  • Drive continuous improvement to uplift the quality of all financial processes and outputs in line with accounting standards, best practice and audit advice.
